Lewis has many quiet roads which make cycling a pleasure. The 18 miles of the single track Pentland Road from Carloway to Stornoway is very popular with cyclists. You can get open views of moorland and hills, the road is relatively flat, and there are few cars to bother you. Bicycles are available for hire in Stornoway, but maybe you should come on your bike – or at least strap it to the top of your car!
