History & Archaeology

The west side of Lewis is rich in history and archaeology, from the older-than-Stonehenge Callanish Standing Stones, to the Iron Age broch at Doune Carloway to the “Norse” mill at Shawbost – and many other sites worth visiting.  Gearrannan is placed centrally to these and is an ideal base from which to set off on your journeys through history.
